BIOGRAPHY

David Scala received his BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His short films have screened and won top prizes over 50 festivals nationally and abroad, including the Palm Spring International ShortFest, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Boston LGBT Film Festival, and Festival MIX Brasil. As a writer, his feature screenplays have been a Finalist for the Sundance Sloan Screenwriting Lab, Hamptons Film Festival Screenwriter's Lab and the NYU/Sloan Feature Film Award.

While living and working as a filmmaker in New York, Dave has also worked for over five years as the Director of Digital Media of BIGSCREENPLAZA, specializing in digital design, branding, and artist development. Combining his passion for the arts with his integration in the New York community, he continues to find rewarding work in his field. Born and raised in the farmlands of New Jersey, Mr. Scala is currently based out of Manhattan.

THE SANDMAN was Mr. Scala’s 3rd Year film at NYU film school. It stars Brian D’Addario, who originated the role of Flounder in the Original Broadway Cast of DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID in 2009.

LOGLINE

When her father inexplicably leaves, a 10-year-old girl must venture into New York City to find a way to provide for her ailing mother and young brother.

 

SYNOPSIS

Ali is a 10-year-old girl growing up in the struggling community of upper Manhattan. Raised by her father on the classic films of Sinatra and Brando, she is determined to rise above her impoverished conditions and become the next King of New York. But when her father inexplicably leaves, Ali must venture out into the city, the weight of providing for her ailing mother and young brother resting on her alone.

LOGLINE

A 20-year-old boy returns to his hometown after a year of big changes away at school.

 

SYNOPSIS

Marco is a small town 20-year-old going to college in bustling Manhattan. When he returns to his rural home for the summer, Marco reunites with his best friends at a midnight pool party with intentions to tell them some hefty news. But as he tries to hold his ground, an unexpected guest to the party, coupled with an approaching storm, compromise everything Marco anticipated the night to be.
